We have created this soulful playlist as a vehicle for moving more deeply into the spirit of reflection.
You will find a mix of Israeli and international artists singing in both Hebrew and English. Some of these pieces were created in response to the tragedy; others elicit deep emotion through sound and lyrics.
We hope you can use this music throughout the day to focus on your intention and designate a time for remembrance.
" Bring Him Home " from Les Misérables was originally sung in Hebrew by Dudu Fisher. Daniel Tatar's rendition was recorded after his visit to Israel four months after 7th October. With gratitude to the families (Hostages and Missing Family Forum) who shared their loved one's images and videos, also to Chen Kotler (Kfar Aza) The iCenter, RootOne, and Ethan Carlson .
Performed by The Portnoy Brothers
Concerto in E Flat Major Written and Performed by Alma Deutscher
Do you really deny that this evil exists
Or do you do it because you deny our right to exist?
You say never again like history never repeats itself
While we stand here time and time again
Learning who our friends are and who wants us wiped off the face of the earth
Stand on the right side of history this time around
Because as we've seen
Good always defeats evil in the end
How can you aim hate like a shotgun
Then call for change like we've got none?
How can you say 'problems' like you're not one?
Have your weapons out, we will not run
If we write the books but never read them
When we hold the signs but never see them
Can we see past rhymes to see the reasons?
Cause you know the truth but don't believe it
You say I sound so distant
You never learn to listen
Why can't you hear me screaming out?
You say I sound so quiet
Can't you see that I'm bleeding out?
If shouting out is silence
Then you can count me out
Woah
Woah
If shouting is silence then you can just count me out
Woah
Woah
If shouting is silence then you can just count me out
Tell me drop the gun, then you point it
Ya, we all preach fight but avoid it
How can you act all disappointed
When you do all this pointing?
If we write the books but never read them
When we hold the signs but never see them
Can we see past rhymes to see the reasons?
Cause you know the truth but don't believe it
You say I sound so distant
You never learn to listen
Why can't you hear me screaming out?
You say I sound so quiet
Can't you see that I'm bleeding out?
If shouting out is silence
Then you can count me out
Woah
Woah
If shouting is silence then you can just count me out
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one
Head underwater, drowned out, and the sound is gone
People watching and waiting in sellout crowds
Raising us up just to watch them all tear us down
Don't tell me I sound quiet
When you just stand in silence
I know you hear me screaming out
If you wanted me dead
Say it straight to my face
If you tear down a sign
Then admit that it's hate
But don't tell me it's peace
And expect me to cease
To exist
To persist
We won't drown in no rivers or seas
You say I sound so distant (Don't we bleed the same?)
Well maybe you don't listen (Can't we feel some pain?)
Why won't you hear me screaming out? (Where's the empathy
When you're sending me
Into the arms of the enemy?)
You say I sound so quiet (When the worlds in flames )
Can't you see that I'm bleeding out? (And it's on your name)
If shouting out is silence (I'll be gone to blame)
Then you can count me out (So don't help me now
Everyone count me out)
Woah
Woah
If shouting is silence then you can just count me out
Woah
Woah
If shouting is silence then you can just count me out
How can you use God's name
To take aim
And spread blood
Like it's love
Say "free us now"
While I walk around
In fear of someone else
Shouting out
And throwing arms
When my guard is down
Guess I'll never prove my innocence
If you're never even listening
This isn't a game
You're not choosing a side
Or rooting for the underdog
This is one sided hate
And we won't cease fire to allow ourselves to become swallowed by it
Because we value life
Because we won't be silenced
Am Yisroel Chai!
