Talmud Shevuot 39a
In the shadow of October 7th
We find ourselves living in a time of incalculable loss, devastation, and personal trauma. For the families of victims and survivors, this day has etched a scar that will never fully heal. Hostages still in captivity endure an eternity of anguish and uncertainty.
Survivors carry a trauma beyond what words can capture, and the broader Jewish community feels the reverberations of anxiety and fear. Yet, through this tragedy, we have become more united than ever before. Drawing from Psalm 113—where we are assured that God will raise up those downtrodden—we embrace the call to action: He who raises me up.
United by our shared grief and resilience, we stand with all who have been affected—victims, hostages, survivors, families, friends, and communities—and acknowledge the global response to the generational trauma that October 7th reawakened.
